Why be gentle?

This world is a harsh place. Life is harsh. At times it feels like we are in a constant battle, and it can all result in a level of harshness in the way we walk through the world.

The word “harsh” is the same word used for “an earthen vessel.” In ancient days, an earthen vessel was something of no value, able to be discarded. When we treat someone harshly, we are treating them as if they have no value.

The Bible says that “a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

We have only been treated gently by the King of Kings. Jesus says He is gentle and humble. Do you want to be less harsh? Know Him. Walk with Him. He is gentle and will help you be gentle with others.

“Do you want to be less harsh? Know Him. Walk with Him. He is gentle and will help you be gentle with others.”

Proverbs 15:1

“A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.”
