Invest in Others

Not long ago, a church in a small town in Oregon sponsored a refugee family. The family – two parents and four children – came from a hot, dry part of the world so rainy, cool Oregon was a huge change for them.

The town they came to was small but with a big heart. The people there welcomed this family with open arms, providing for all their immediate needs.

They thought they were blessing this family – and they were – but they were also being blessed themselves. They learned the joy of giving, and loving others who were different. They learned about a new culture, a different religion, an unfamiliar geographical region.

They also learned that we are all human, created in the image and likeness of God. And we are all in need of a Savior.

These Oregonians were able to humbly share not only their worldly goods with the refugees, but also the love of Jesus.

“We are all human, created in the image and likeness of God. And we are all in need of a Savior.”

Matthew 5:42

“Give to those who ask, and don’t turn away from those who want to borrow.”
