The Lost Sheep

Have you ever seen the image of Jesus carrying a sheep on His shoulders—an artist’s depiction of the parable of the lost sheep?

This is a story Jesus told to a group of religious leaders who were muttering against Him. Why? Because he was a friend to so-called ‘sinners.’

In the story, the shepherd loses one sheep out of ninety-nine. But he leaves the ninety-nine to go to look for the “one.” When he finds the one, he calls his friends and neighbors to celebrate with him.

This story is brilliant. Jesus is revealing to them the truth of their situation. We are all “ones.”

We all need to repent. We all need to see ourselves for who we really are—lost ones who Jesus is searching for. He won’t give up, no matter how far we wander.

Always remember, there is Hope with God.

“We all need to see ourselves for who we really are, lost ones who Jesus is searching for. He won't give up, no matter how far we wander.”

Luke 15:7

“In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!”
