The Lion and the Lamb

In the springtime I love to see the tiny lambs in the fields. They look so cute with their knobby little legs and big ears. We think of lambs as being gentle and sweet.

At the other extreme are lions. Their massive paws and strong teeth are frightening.

The odd thing is that Jesus is referred to in the Bible as both a lion and a lamb. He is tender and strong at the same time.

There is a song we sing at church that brings out this contrast. Part of it says:

Our God is the lion, the lion of Judah;
He's roaring with power and fighting our battles,
And every knee will bow before Him.
Our God is the lamb, the lamb that was slain
For the sins of the world, His blood breaks the chains…

Yes, Jesus is strong enough to protect us, yet compassionate and tender with us. What a perfect Savior!

“Jesus is strong enough to protect us, yet compassionate and tender with us. What a perfect Savior!”

John 1:29

“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!’”
