Refuge

Where do you find refuge? The word means to run to a place for protection.

In ancient days a refuge would have been a mountain or a fort, something big and safe. But in our 21st-century culture, a refuge could take many forms.

Very often, the danger lurking may be our very own selves - bad habits and behaviors or bad relationships.

Where do you go for protection? Psalm 71 says, “In you, Lord, I have taken refuge. Let me never be put to shame. Rescue me, deliver me.”

What a beautiful cry. Only God is big enough to save us from ourselves. He is the only one powerful enough.

When anxiety hits, run to Him. When fear creeps in or when isolation wants to take hold of your life, turn to Him for refuge.

“Only God is big enough to save us from ourselves. He is the only one powerful enough.”

Psalm 71:1-2

“O Lord, I have come to you for protection; don’t let me be disgraced. Save me and rescue me, for you do what is right. Turn your ear to listen to me, and set me free.”
