He Welcomes Us

Most of us have a built-in need to be safe and secure. We spend huge amounts of time perfecting the right diet, the right exercise routine, the right medical regimen, the right home environment.

These tactics may give an illusion of protection from dangers, but they can’t guarantee safety.

One scripture passage highlights two ways of attempting to feel safe.

Proverbs 18:10 says,

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Another popular option follows in the next verse:

The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it an unscalable wall.

The first way—God—works, the second way—wealth—does not. God is our only safe refuge. Run to Him when there is danger and trouble all around. He is waiting for you with open arms.

“God is our only safe refuge. Run to Him when there is danger and trouble all around. He is waiting for you with open arms.”

Proverbs 18:10

“The name of the Lord is a strong fortress;
    the godly run to him and are safe.”
