He Satisfies Our Desires

I read this week that the center of human identity is the presence of core desires. Does this ring true for you?

We are all filled with desire—the desire to be loved or belong, to have a safe fulfilling place in the world. Added on top of these basic desires are the desires that are unique to us according to our personality or where we come from.

Desire is a powerful presence for every human being. But sometimes our desires can destroy our lives.

We desire things that hurt us and the people we love. God promises something different. He promises to fulfill our desires with good things—things that truly fill us up—not superficial fixes.

Ask him today, Lord, fulfill my desires with good things.
