Anchor

Have you ever used an anchor? Have you been out on a boat and thrown an anchor overboard to hold the boat steady, to prevent you from drifting or protect you in a storm?

The Bible says that the hope God offers us through Jesus is an anchor for our soul. And this hope is firm and secure. Why do we need an anchor for our souls?

You probably know the answer to that question. It’s obvious. When the troubles of life come – the storms, the heartaches – and they will come, what will hold our souls from being overcome with hopelessness? With anxiety, or discouragement, fear?

We need a hope that goes beyond what we see and experience at the time. A hope that is steady. A hope that goes beyond the winds of change. This is the hope God offers through His Son, Jesus, and this hope is a secure anchor.

“A hope that goes beyond the winds of change. This is the hope God offers through His Son, Jesus, and this hope is a secure anchor.”

Hebrews 6:19

“This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.”
