A Different Kind of Fight

What image comes to your mind when you hear the word “fight”? A fistfight? An argument? Those are the fights we are most familiar with.

Well, the Bible talks about a different kind of fighting. It’s a fight within ourselves – a fight to hold onto our faith.

Sometimes this can be a conflict between your own desires and what you know God wants you to do. Or it could mean humbly holding onto your beliefs with a spirit of gentleness when you are attacked for your faith.

When Jesus was falsely accused before Pilate, a Roman official, and was directly asked if He was King of the Jews, He simply said, “You say so.”

Jesus’ response, though meek, showed great strength. He showed grace and faithfulness to His heavenly Father without engaging in unnecessary argument. He did not save His own life by denying that He was God.

Look to Jesus’ example of fighting the good fight when faced with battles in your own life.

1 Timothy 6:12

“Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses.”
