What Are You Looking At?

One of the things I remember from childhood ballet lessons is that when you’re spinning, you have to fix your eyes in one direction or else you will lose your balance.

In our spiritual lives we must keep our hearts fixed on eternity to keep our balance in this world.

During a time in my life when I felt overwhelmed by grief, I remember reading this verse in 2 Corinthians: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

I realized that my grief was overtaking me because I was fixing my eyes on my loss instead of on the eternal truths and promises of God.

What are you looking at?  God’s eternal promises are for you today. Fix your eyes on Him. What He offers is eternal.

God’s eternal promises are for you today. Fix your eyes on Him. What He offers is eternal.

Hebrews 12:2

“…fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
