The Samaritan Woman

There's a story of Jesus passing through a village in Samaria when he meets a woman getting water at a well. Jesus asked her for a drink. She was taken aback that he would even speak to her.

She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan. Why are you asking me for a drink?” Jesus responded to her. “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you were speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

Jesus treated this woman with dignity and friendship when the religious people of his time did not, and she received his gift.

You know, my friend Jesus offers you living water today. No matter who you are, he says to you, I will give you water that will become a spring welling up to eternal life.

“No matter who you are, he says to you, I will give you water that will become a spring welling up to eternal life.”

John 4:14

“But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
