For the Joy Set Before Him

Sometimes, delaying something can make it better and more meaningful in the long run, don’t you think?

Having to work for a long period of time to earn something makes it even more meaningful when you finally get it.

Today’s culture is more about instant gratification, but I think the anticipation of the Advent can be helpful this time of year.

Advent comes from the Latin word that means “coming.” It’s a time of reflection and anticipation of Christ coming to be with us.

Spend the weeks before Christmas reflecting on our need for a Savior. Remember Jesus’s birth and the purpose of His life.

Hebrews 12:2 says,

“…For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Slow down this Christmas season as you meditate on the joyful and long-awaited birth of Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 12:2

“… Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.”
