Martha and Mary

Have you ever said to God, “Where are You? If You had been here this would not have happened?” I have.

And there are two sisters in the Bible who asked Jesus this same question. Their brother had died. When Jesus got to them both sisters said to Him, “Lord, if you had been here, this would not have happened.”

Jesus’s response is astounding to me. Instead of giving an explanation, He tells them who He is. He says, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live even though he dies.” Then He ends His statement with, “Do you believe this?”

Jesus very seldom gives an explanation for our grief, but He does tell us who He is. He tells us that through Him, there is life, even in death. Eternal life through Him. Do you believe this?

Always remember, there is hope with God.
