Can you let God down?

My father-in-law used to say: “God isn’t disillusioned with you, because He never had any illusions to begin with.”

The psalmist says it this way in psalm 103: “He knows how weak we are; He remembers we are only dust.”

Is He disillusioned with you? No! Does he know how weak you are? Yes! There’s freedom in this truth.

Freedom from fear of disappointing God. Freedom from the burden of performance. Freedom from our weakness and freedom from pride. There’s no room for pride. Anything good in my life is Him, and only Him.

Get to know God - the One who knows you and comes alongside you as a father with a child. And He says: “I will forgive your sin, heal you, redeem you, fill your life with good things.”
