The One Who Gave Himself

Many religions of the world share a similar theme: when people do something forbidden, there must be a sacrifice to compensate for their wrongdoing, and that will restore them to a state of purity or rightness. The ancient people of God did that as well.

Whenever someone sinned, a priest had to sacrifice an animal on their behalf to make them clean. The power of the animal sacrifice to make a person clean didn’t have a lasting effect.

But then something happened that has NOT happened in any other religion. God took human form in Jesus Christ and He made HIMSELF the sacrifice to end all sacrifices.

The Bible says in 1 Timothy 2,

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.

Will you receive His offer—the offer of life?

“God took human form in Jesus Christ and He made HIMSELF the sacrifice to end all sacrifices.”

1 Timothy 2:5-6a

“There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone.”
