Saying Yes to God's Prompting

When I first felt God’s prompting to become a preaching evangelist, I resisted thoroughly. I couldn’t believe God would want to use me in that way. It seemed absurd.

As I read the Bible and studied the life of Moses right in this season of agonizing, I was confronted with the part of the story we would rather forget: God threatened to end Moses’ life.

While there’s a lot to unpack, that story had a significant effect on my story. It completely changed my story of obedience to my calling as an evangelist. And, it should influence all of us to yield our lives to the Lord our God, our maker and creator.

The Lord’s authority over all of us is clear. What’s more, He is the Author and Perfecter of our faith. So, each one of us needs to allow Him to lead us in the way He desires. He is in charge. Not me. Not you.

It took time, but I began changing my mindset. I started telling God, “You open doors. You shut them. I will be obedient.” And - no big surprise - He did exactly that. And He continues to do it.

Today, I joyfully accept God’s calling on my life. I have had the privilege of proclaiming His Good News to millions of people around the world, and if God can use me, He can use anyone. Imagine what God would love to do--through you!

“The Lord’s authority over all of us is clear. What’s more, He is the Author and Perfecter of our faith. So, each one of us needs to allow Him to lead us in the way He desires. He is in charge. Not me. Not you.”
