The Patience of God

When someone upsets you, do you find yourself quickly becoming angry? There is a time and place for anger – even Jesus got angry so we know that in itself, anger is not a sin. It can lead to sin, though.

You can ask God to make you more like Him – to give you patience in place of a quick temper. Patience is not easy, but it’s a skill you can develop with practice, and with God’s help.

It’s easier to be patient with others when you pause and remember how patient God has been with you. Think about all the times God has forgiven you, helped you, guided you. He hasn’t forced you to live up to His expectations all at once. He leads you along step by step.

Next time you find yourself getting angry, pause and ask God to give you patience and His heart of compassion for the person with whom you’re angry.

“It’s easier to be patient with others when you pause and remember how patient God has been with you.”

Psalm 103:8

“The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.”
