Light Into Darkness

It is a scientific truth that light always goes into darkness, not the other way around. Darkness cannot overcome a candle, it must wait for the flame to flicker out. But light takes effect instantaneously, as soon as a match is struck, or a switch flipped on.

Jesus said, “You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

There is a lot of darkness in the world around us, and it can be intimidating. But that’s where Jesus wants us to be, to shine the light of His love and truth into the dark places. Let’s be willing to go beyond our comfort zone.

Find out where your neighbors and coworkers hang out and join them there. That’s where you can shine the brightest. And that’s where you will find opportunities to share the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ.

“There is a lot of darkness in the world around us, and it can be intimidating. But that’s where Jesus wants us to be, to shine the light of His love and truth into the dark places.”

Matthew 5:16

“Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
