Forgiveness

“Forgiven” is one of the most heartwarming words in the English language. If we ask someone’s pardon for an offense we committed and they grant it, we are exhilarated.

But sometimes when the shoe is on the other foot, we have difficulty in forgiving. Some people don’t seem to deserve forgiveness. But here’s the thing – Jesus forgave us when we didn’t deserve it, and He asks us to do the same.

Once, the Apostle Peter asked Jesus, “‘How many times should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?’ ‘No, not seven times,’ Jesus replied, ‘but seventy times seven!’”

Is Jesus saying we should just allow people to keep wronging us? No, He’s not. But He wants us to forgive so that we will not be poisoned by hatred. [It may seem impossible to forgive that difficult person in your life.]

God wants you to be free from that burden. Ask Him to help you forgive today.

Colossians 3:13

“Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.”
