Comfort

The word “comfort” is used in the New Testament 29 times! It’s used to mean encouragement, exhortation, consolation. All are the same word.

The word means an urging done by someone close behind; a personal exhortation that delivers the evidence that stands in God’s court. It’s actually a legal word and helps us see God’s presence as what we need when lies abound.

Lies such as: I am not loved. My life is hopeless. I’ve failed too many times. God isn’t good. These lies bring fear and hopelessness.

In the New Testament we are told that God is the God of ALL comfort and the father of compassion. That is the truth He offers us, and the truth is the comfort we need.

Will you turn your heart to the God of all comfort today? Give Him your life, fully and completely, and ask Him to comfort you with His truth.

“Will you turn your heart to the God of all comfort today? Give Him your life, fully and completely, and ask Him to comfort you with His truth.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”
