A Warm Welcome

When I return home after a trip, I’m so excited to pull into the driveway, see the lights glowing from the windows, and feel the welcome of my family.

But there are many people in the world who don’t have anyone to welcome them home. They feel lost and alone.

Jesus calls us to welcome those people into our lives, just like He did. The Pharisees and the teachers of the law used to grumble, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.” Eating with someone was an honor, and Jesus gave that honor even to people who were outcasts from polite society.

Jesus is our example of hospitality. We can invite others to a meal and welcome them to a community that is warm and accepting. They can feel the love of Jesus and the care of a Christ-centered family.

First Peter 4:9 says, “Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.”
