A Spirit of Fear

I use the word ‘fear’ often. It rolls off my tongue easily, and in certain seasons of life, it has been a constant companion.

Researching the word fear… one of the meanings is ‘cowardice.’ I don’t like that word. It feels shameful to be a coward. It feels like an identity.

But cowards don’t have to be cowards forever. In fact, God has something different for me.

He promised that I don’t need to be a person of fear. But I can have a spirit of power, love, and self-control. His power, filled with His love. And self-control that is from Him when the fear creeps in.

Pray with me:  Lord take my fear. Steady me, even right now. Take my quivering frame. Amen.

“But cowards don’t have to be cowards forever. In fact, God has something different for me.”

2 Timothy 1:7

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
