Asking Jesus to Change Your Story
Everyone loves a good story. And everyone has a story. Everyone has a story worth telling. This is true no matter where you live.
My family intentionally made Portland, Oregon, our home many years ago. I love our city’s eccentric DNA. “Keep Portland Weird” isn’t just a catchy slogan. The city has several respected faith-based K-12 schools and universities.
However, a full ninety-nine percent of the students at not one but two of Portland’s independent colleges have self-described as atheists.
To say the least, it’s not always easy to articulate one’s faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Yet I like what a good friend says: “He’s the best thing I’ve ever known.”
Imagine if Jesus spoke to someone you know or meet this week. No matter how eccentric he or she may be. How do you think that experience would impact that person’s story? Would they be willing to talk about it? If so, when?
Imagine if Jesus spoke to your next door neighbor. Is that even possible? If so, how would it change your neighbor’s story? And how would you ever find out?
Again, no matter where you live, everyone has a story worth telling. This week, ask someone to tell their story to you. And don’t be surprised if they bring up something Jesus told them.
