Ability

I have met a lot of people who have very little confidence in their ability to accomplish anything for God.  The problem is, their lack of confidence inhibits them from going out in faith and trying something.

The inventor Thomas Edison was almost deaf, but that didn’t hinder him from inventing the phonograph and dozens of other things.  He once said, “If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.”  We all have ability, but most of us don’t make full use of it.

God has given us jobs to do.  Jesus said things like, “Be my disciples…follow me…go into all the world and preach the Gospel.”

If you have doubts about your ability to do as Jesus commanded, just remember what the Apostle Paul said in Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

You’re not on your own.  Christ lives in you!  Jesus Himself said, “Whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these…” (John 14:12)

Doesn’t that give you courage?  Don’t be afraid to do whatever God puts in your heart to do.  He has promised to give you the ability to carry it out.

John 14:12

“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”
