How can I keep my treasures safe?

How can I keep my treasure safe? Jesus said in Matthew 6:19-21:

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Every bit of treasure we have on this side of Heaven can be lost. Markets crash. Natural disasters wreak havoc on whole nations. Each year around the world, trillions of dollars are spent in the financial sector by people trying to keep their assets safe. I am not against making wise financial decisions for your family—but ask yourself, “where’s my heart?”

Is my heart set on filling my storehouses so that I feel safe? Or do I recognize that true security is in Jesus alone?

Friend—the only way to keep your most valuable assets safe is to surrender them to Jesus. Ask Him: Lord, how do you want me to spend my time, my money, my gifts, my life? Listen for how He leads you—even if that means giving something away!

In God’s kingdom, you don’t hustle to get rich. You surrender to Him completely and He promises treasure in Heaven that cannot be destroyed! Let’s trust Him today.
