When Things Don't Turn Out

A friend of mine was blessed with athletic ability that few people have. He played football, basketball, and ran track at his college, and then he got drafted into the National Football League.

Ever since he was a young boy, he had anticipated a long career as a superstar athlete.

And he was well on his way. But something happened just a few years into his NFL career; he got injured in a game, missed a big catch, and he was cut from the team.

Suddenly, all of his dreams went out the window. For a while, he struggled with bitter feelings—this wasn’t part of his plan.

But then one day, he came across Jeremiah 29:11, which says, “For I know the plans I have for you…plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

He made the effort to trust God, even though life wasn’t turning out how he had hoped. In time, my friend developed a career in broadcasting, and successful businesses. God used his story to touch people far and wide.

The point of this story is this: sometimes life doesn’t turn out how we want it to. But take heart! Trust in God, your Father. Trust that He is with you, and His plan is far bigger and better than we could even imagine.

As you go about your day, place your trust in the living God. Then, share His truth with others.

“Trust in God, your Father. Trust that He is with you, and His plan is far bigger and better than we could even imagine.”
