Salt and Light
As followers of Jesus, we are called to carry the message of the Gospel and the loving character of Jesus into the world. Jesus talked about it this way, He said,
You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it’s lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again?
Well, what does that mean? We’re supposed to stand out in the world, adding blessing and benefit wherever we go. If we shrink back from being who God has called us to be in the world, that’s when we lose our saltiness.
The next verse goes on to say,
No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.
Jesus wants us to shine the light He has put inside of us for everyone to see. So, don’t hide the light of the Gospel that God has illuminated within your heart. Share it freely, and spread salt and light wherever you go.
