People Are Disappointed

The writer Henry David Thoreau said this, “The mass of men live lives of quiet desperation.”

I would put it this way, more simply. Most people live disappointed lives.

As children, we have dreams! Anything seems possible. But the reality of life—so many things get in the way of our dreams. Sometimes our dreams come true, and we discover we’re still disappointed!

Jesus said something similar to Thoreau. He saw the crowds, and He said they are harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

And that is why Jesus came. He said, I’ve come that you may have life and have it to the full.

Life that is truly life!

This is why we share hope. It’s the greatest gift you could give any human being, even the most disappointed people in your life.
