Not a Killjoy

I grew up in a terrific Christian home with parents who loved God and loved me.  Even though I was taught well, I took off on a tangent, leaving the church behind.

Then one February my dad had a Gospel festival in Jamaica.  He invited me to come along, knowing I would be attracted by the fishing there.  I went, and God began to work on my heart as I listened to my dad preach.  That was the moment I gave my heart and life to God.

One of my fears for a long time had been that if I came back to God He would spoil all my fun.

But the only thing that’s gone are the bad things.  Life is richer and freer when you know Jesus Christ.

If you have friends who think God is a cosmic killjoy, remind them of what Jesus said: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)

John 10:10

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
